    2022.02.03 "Extra" Pic

    Many of the parts were common to Fox and closely resembles the self propelled Fox chopper of that era. The pull type Oliver chopper also looked very similiar to the Fox pull type. If I remember correctly, the heads would interchange between both companies.

    Starter kicks out

    If that 1 1/2 year old drive came from the rebuilder I knew from your area, chances are it was used. They worked out of my shop for a while and they used a constant supply of used parts, very few new ones.

    546/548 spring reset plow differences

    Hi. The 548 was available as 14"-16" or 16"-18".The biggest difference in the 2 plows was backbone size. The earlier 546 was furnished with a welded backbone.

    The good old days!

    There was also a Case Dealer in St. Johns. Michigan in the '50's. It was the Phillips Implement Company, owned by Harold E. Phillips.There were also an Oliver Dealer. I owned a "350" Case with a 3 btm. mounted plow that they had sold new to my Great Uncle. I sure wish I still had it.

    Across the river from St Joe is a city called Benton Harbor. STAY out of that town. Residents of St. Joe will not cross the river. Very high crime and lots of gangs. My daughter lives in St. Joe.
