Anyone grow Milo (Commercial Sorghum) ???

There's quite a bit of it grown in Arkansas. Nearly all of it is grown for animal feed and the food value is comparable to corn. When I was in HS, Dad usually had 100 acres or so. By accident I found out that it can be popped like popcorn. I blew a hydraulic hose on the combine and some of the...

    Real Estate Agent question????

I've bought and sold property at different time for most of my adult life. The 1st few sales and purchases I went through an agent. The last purchase and the last 3 times I've sold I did it without an agent. The last farm I sold was for 750K and the agent wanted 6%. They also told me that they...

    Value of an ag degree

IMO a college degree in any field is only as good as the person who achieves that degree. If you have a good work ethic then you will be successful. I started out going for an agriculture degree and changed to general business. It appeared to me that unless I was going into research or some...

    I've Been Vandalized!

I hate a vandal worse than a thief, at least I can see what they were getting out of it. Just an other similar story, I had a trailer that I was using to haul hay, I left it several miles from the nearest road. The next morning I went to get it and the wires were cut on it very similar to what...

looking for a cap for power steering pump

If you don't have a model number or application is it an add on pump? Some medium duty Ford trucks had a pulley driven PS pump that might work. With the information you have it's only going to be a guessing game.

I would expect it in CA, but MN??

Thanks for clarifying that asg. That's what I was trying to say. Most of us agree that participation trophies are a bad idea but these ribbons aren't the same thing.

I would expect it in CA, but MN??

I guess I don't understand what your referring to. I haven't been involved in any showing in a few years but over 50 years ago when I was in 4H and FFA the grand and reserve champions got a rosetta or banner and everything else got blue for 1st, red for 2nd white for 3rd and a different color...

    OT need logging advice

Getting a forester in is good advise if you are wanting to just harvest part of the trees. I've got a tract that I'm clearing off now. The cutter is cutting everything marketable and pushing up the tops. I get half. I'll dig out the stumps myself and smooth the ground. I sold the timber off...

    The end

I'll be glad to see summer gone. It will mean no more 75 degree dew points and heat index of 110+. No insects, no snakes, no yard to keep, and no high electric bills. The last couple of summers have been more like what they were when I lived in Louisiana. We are far enough north that we can...

    OT: what do y'all recommend??

x2 In North Arkansas ethanol blend will absorb a lot of moisture in just a couple of months. Drive it when you can and keep it topped off with premium and a fuel stabilizer.

Front tractor tires -- tubes or no tubes?

I went tubeless several years ago. All my front tires are tubeless and all but 1 tractor has tubeless rear tires. I'm a lot more satisfied with the tubeless, fewer flats and I can plug them if I don't have time to take them off to patch.

What or who is a tractor collector?

I guess the definition depends on who you ask. My definition of a collector is someone who buys a tractor, or anything, for personal pleasure. They may or may not use it. I don't collect any piece of machinery that don't have a use. It has to pay it own way. I guess I collect pounds. I add...

Did you get paid for farm work?

I had plenty to eat, clothes to wear and a bed to sleep in at night. If I was sick I got as good of medical attention as there was available. That is pretty darn good pay. In addition I was taught a work ethic that made me realize that nothing is free. I was taught responsibility and compassion...

OT Point gap 1965 Ford 300-6

Same here, I was taught to tear off the lid from one of the spark plugs and use it for the gauge. I can't remember the correct but .025 sounds right.

Need to Rehabilitate a Tired Feild

What Ted said. Find out what the soil is lacking. If you have a county extension office they will send it off for testing, some places they do it for free. They need to know what kind of "exotic" crop you are planning so they can recommend the correct nutrients. There is a lot of good...
