    1966-67 510 (Lanz)

There's someone selling a 510 in my area. What's the story on these? Are they a good tractor? Worth repairing? Can you get parts? What size are the rear tires? Thanks! Joe

    Here's one for ya!

Just discovered the 1951 8N I bought last year with oversized rear wheels (13-21). Has one tire filled and one not! Been that way for years! I live on flat ground. But, I would have never seen the smarts in that! Joe

    My Arps snow plow

I just got this Arps snow plow. It's a bit more worked over than I thought. But, for $100, I think I did OK! 1. I also got the concrete counter weight. I'm surprised someone managed to break the linchpin hole out! I'm looking at new cables for sure...

8N voltage regulator front dist/side dist?

I was in TSC and saw a voltage regulator for an 8N. I happen to be in need. So, I bought it. When I got it home I checked. And, it is for a front mount dist. Is there a difference between a V/R for a front mount dist and a side mount dist? Generators are the same. I need a side mount V/R...

The wife put his 1985? 2000 on CL for $1000. Non running. Been sitting in the garage for three years. I didn't see it till it was 7 hours old! You know what they say "You snooze You loose" I don't really need it. But, at that price how bad could it be? Joe

    Huber maintainer Identification help

My boss just bought an old Huber for grading our dirt road at work. The seller said late sixties M 600. I'm thinking early fifties. It's got a fresh coat of paint on every thing. There may be a plate on the bell housing. It's got a four cylinder flathead gas engine up draft carburetor and six...

    Pumpkin gear removal

I'm trying to fix a lower lift arm loose pin problem on my 1951 8N. Trumpet casting came right off without a hitch. Now to remove the pumpkin gear, it's just resting on the axel shaft and drive shaft gear right? It will just pull Straight out? I'm thinking of putting a rope through it to hold...

    Old tires

So, I recently purchased a 1950 8N. The rear tires show very little wear, B.F.Goodrich. The front tires are one single rib (marker tire) made by Firestone. And one three rib made by US Royal. The guy I bought this tractor from bought it 28 years ago. I"m sure he never changed the tires. US...

    My new Fords

I just got these delivered; The one with the gray rear wheels is a 51' with a Sherman combo trans. The one with the red wheels is a 50'. The brackets on the front of the 50' were for a fence post hammer. I got them as non running tractors. But, I think they'll both run! Joe

    Looking at an 8n Friday

I have a 1949 Harry Ferguson and a 1956 Ford 640. The Fergie"s a great tractor. But a little too fast for me, really can"t slow it down. The ford has a Howad step down rear end. But, it"s a bit too big for my property. So, I"m thinking what I really want is a Ford 8N with a Sherman step down...

    1956 640 lift mechanical problem

I bought a 1956 640 off a guy on the other side of the mountain. ( ok, so it's really a hill!) I split the tractor. Replace the hydro tubes though the trans. Replaced the freeze plugs. Cleaned the water jacket in the block. Replaced the usual wear parts under the seat. Cleaned the hydro system...

    TE-20 block water jacket flush

So, when I got my Ford 640 it had a leaking freeze plug between the bell housing and the block. While replacing it I pulled the rest of the freeze plugs and flushed the whole block thourghly. I had to shovel a lot of crud, sand, silt, rust, whatever out of there! Glad I did runs nice and cool...

Cultivator, solid shank vs spring shank

I have a Dearborn spring shank cultivator. I just love it! Flicks stones right out of my field! But, I wonder where does a solid shank cultivator come into play? What is it best used for? Joe

    Diesel from a taxi into a TE-20?

I only ask because someone here would probably know! I have a 1949 TE-20. And, a 1967 London Austin taxi cab with a four cylinder diesel in it. Standard trans. Would that engine hook right up to my Fergie? Joe

Re: Wanted: Howard Transmission for NAA

I have a Howard step down rear end (tranny) in my Ford 600. I just love it. The 8n version was weak and not desirable? Why would you want that? Joe

    Te 20 brake conversion

Worked on my 1949 TE 20 tractor today, and discovered that I have TO 20 brake shoes in it. So, I see three options; 1: get a set of used shoes somewhere. 2: weld metal to these shoes to get them to work properly. 3: convert to newer bendex brakes from a TO 20 (whole system from backing plate)...
