    Disking a field

How much is it possible to disk in an 8 hour day with an 8N and a 6’ disk? Soil is sandy loam. Needs to be done so my wife’s great uncle can plant some oats. He has a seed drill but no disc. Just trying to see if I could help him out a little.

    Farmall B carb kit

I need to find a carb rebuild kit for the zenith carb on my 46B. The disc on top of the carb has 213348 on the outer ring and 8707C on the inner ring. These numbers don’t match any model number for a rebuild kit listed on this site. The only other markings I could find are zenith made in USA...

Lift doesn't go all the way down in position control

1950 8n. The lift will not drop all the way down in position control. T It seems to work ok in draft control but is slow to lift. There is several more inches of down travel in draft vs position. It was working fine until I had to swap hydraulic pumps. The test port threads stripped on the old...

    Restore or Replace?

The '46 B I just got came with the magneto lying on the seat of the tractor. Previous owner stated that the couldn't get spark with the magneto and just stopped messing with it. It is the H4 magneto. I pulled it apart. Everything is pretty rusty. I got the armature out. The bearings have...

    ID transmission

I'm considering picking up a rear end and transmission. We have a 3550 with no 3 point or PTO. The rear end combo I'm looking at has these. I'm considering swapping the motor out of the tractor we have into this combo. I'm not sure what tractor the combo is from though or if this plan will work...

    New B owner

So I was doing some road maintenance with my neighbor the other day and long story short, he gave me a farmall B. I'll be picking it up Friday. I'm excited because red power has been in my life forever. First tractor I ever remember was my dads 450 wide front. My great uncle farmed with a 350...

Ford 3550 735 Loader Aftermarket Cylinders

I need to replace the bucket cylinders on a ford 735 loader, which is on a '69 3550. I plan on replacing both cylinders The rod on the right side cylinder broke in half. Anybody know of a cylinder from surplus center or other source that will work? Thanks.

    Stories?

I'd love to read yalls stories about growing up with/living around/ owning your ford. If there is another thread like this, I apologize. Here's mine. I inherited my 8n from my wife's grandpa when he passed, who's dad bought it new as far as I've been told. His twin brother did all the...

    Thoughts on this loader

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/grq/5766810880.html This would go on my 8n. I've read and we've discussed at length that this is a bad idea. I know it's not the best for my tractor and won't be the easiest thing to use. The plan is, if I buy it, to use it very limited. Just to move a little...

    Leaking from the test port

My 8n is leaking from the test port. this leak developed a good while after installing my live hydraulics setup. I noticed a leak and then tightened the fitting down with a wrench but it came back with a vengeance. I guess this is what screwed up the fitting. I took the sae 5 fitting out to...

    Opinions on this 460 needed

I'm looking for a larger horse power tractor than my little 8n. I need it mostly to help me do brush clearing, pulling a box blade, etc. once I get a spot cleared out of the brush, I plan to start a large garden and run some chickens and hogs. I've got 10 acres to work with. Thoughts on...

    Reviving a basketcase

My father in law has an 8n, with front mount dizzy, that has been sitting for quite some time (10 years or so). Probably next week, I will be bringing it into the shop to see if I can get it going again. I spun the PTO and the lift arms started to rise, so that's a good sign! However, the...

    12.4 x 28 R4 tires?

Are r4 12.4 x 28's available? I'd like to try a set on my 8n. I was thinking they might give me some more traction in reverse than the r1's I have on it now. The ground out here is blow sand. With my drag type shredder, backing up can suck because of the lack of counter weight on the three...

    Will it fit?

Trying to confirm if a ford backhoe will work with a ford 3550 tractor. Our tractor already has a the subframe installed. The backhoe is model number 19 481. Thanks for the help!

Remove eyelet assembly from lower link arms

Is there anything special about removing the check chain eyelet assembly that pins the leveling box to the lower link arm on an 8n? I removed the two nuts and tried tapping it out but it didn't budge. I have not applied heat yet, just WD40. Thanks for the help.

Shredder gear box is done, need replacement.

I have a 70's model 5' honor shredder, rotary cutter, brush hog, whatever you want to call it. The output shaft and blade pan are stripped out and Roy fed smooth. I assume I hit something and the shear pin didn't break. Anyways, I need to replace the gear box and blade pan. I called howse...

    Thoughts on this subsoiler

What are your thoughts on this subsoiler/middle buster combo? I want to use the subsoiler for trenching in several hundred feet of water line but coming with a middle buster option is nice as well. It's priced the same as the subsoiler by itself at tractor supply. This will be used...

Hydraulic Oil weeps out of transmission fill hole

When using my 8n I've noticed that i get some weeping out of the fill hole on the transmission cover from underneath the cap. I have also noticed that I will get hydraulic fade when the tractor is warm. The hydros aren't as responsive at idle when warm as they are when cold. This is central...
