More pics from flooding from RR

The railroad says they will be out Monday to fix the culvert. Was hoping they would be faster than that. But we will see what happens. I did get time to walk out and take some more pics of what the issue is. These are the pilings they drove in along the track. They are on both sides. Here is...

What do you know about railroads

A railroad runs on the west side of my property. This spring I have this. Walked out to check the cause and found the culvert under the tracks is plugged. They drove some pieces of track into the bank, likely for erosion control, and they drove one right through the culvert. Now it's...

I have 2 electric motors that don't work right. They will both run but don't have much power. Both are 3/4 hp. One you need to spin it to get it started as well. What might cause that?

    New calf in the kingdom

Got another surprise calf yesterday. Bought a heifer last fall that was supposed to be open and not breeding, and since she was cheap I bought her to fatten and sell. She came in September and had a calf yesterday, so she must have only been a few weeks bred when I got her. She had this cute...

    More progress on 830 com

Got the com inbthe 830 today, but not without some difficulty. Started by building a lifting arm to put it in. Took a couple tries to get it right. First made the upright too short to go over the housing, then didn't make it stick out from the com enough to get it all the way on. This one needed...

    Progress on the 830 com

Made some progress on getting the 830 back together yesterday. Started with the pto clutch because I've done them before and they are easy. Just clean the up and stack the parts in proper order. First a driven disc, then a spring, then a drive disc. Then just repeat til you get them all in...

    Look what i got

Picked this up at an auction today. Those are not DC hubs, but have the eagle in them and the caps and seals look the same as DC hubs. But these hubs are both longer and larger diameter. Still trying to confirm if it's really case, but case did make those.

Picked up a new boar for the pig herd

Picked up this nice looking boar for the pig heard on Saturday. The sows that i had were not aging well, so decided to save some gilts from the fat group to replace them. So the old boar had to go. The new guy even got 2 new girlfriends. I will eventually move 4 more from the group that is...

    Another project done

A friend bought a head gate and wanted a chute made for it. He had a bunch of old steel laying around so he brought it all over and dropped it off. Yesterday I finally got around to it. This is the end result. He asked for fork tubes to move it and a place to slide a bar in behind the animal...

    More gate building

Spent the weekend building more gates in my barn. Finished the crates first. The one side piece had to be made to follow the cement ramp so that made it a bit more difficult. Then made the other gate to close the rear of the crates off for easy sorting. Then I made a gate for the next pen...

    Weekend project

Well, guess it too 2 weekends, but I only worked on it maybe 2 days. I bought 2 pig crates, but they didn't have the side area where the little pigs go. So I built the side pens and a gate. I used 1 1/2" square galvanized thing I got for free from work This is the first crate installed after I...

    My local feed mill

Any of you still have an old fashioned feed mill nearby? Mine is just a few miles away and has been there since the early 1900s some time, the Grasston coop feed mill. Hasn't changed get much over the years other than a few steel bins. There used to be a creamery as well, but that was gone...

How old of a bull can be fixed

I bought a small bull calf last fall that I was going to band. But I put him in the pen and forgot about banding him. He's a belted Galloway, so a small breed, but he must be 7-800lbs now. So near full grown. Can he still be cut? Can he be banded? Altho I doubt I could get a band on him.
