    You're right. I used the wrong terminology. It is a flat rubber gasket around the rim of the canister. I thought about a flat copper washer under the bolt head on the lid but I wasn't sure how I'd get it on. I don't want to mess up the lid on a 74 year old tractor. it might be hard to find.
