    Air Cleaner

The latches on that air cleaner are called "toggle latches". They are available on Amazon. Search: "toggle latch strap". If you are prepared to do some "farmer engineering" you may be able to make this work.

    601 Starter issue

Sounds like a grounding issue to me. Check out the grounding cable on the battery ground. Make sure it is clean, tight, and continuous.

    Re: Fuel Shutoff Valve

You might find it useful to acquire a "tubing wrench" to turn the nut on the fuel line. It is like a box end wrench with a cut-out to allow it to slip over the tubing, and you can make shorter strokes as you tighten. I have a set of these (Craftsman) in my tool chest. Saves a lot of frustration.

    Phosphoric acid

We have used a product called Ospho on the farm for years. 861 Ford Diesel Engine (172 CID)

I do have an original 1950"s version Shop Manual. I took the pistons to an automotive machine shop; I was told that the pistons were usable. I also "miked" the sleeves; the machine shop said they were acceptable; however, two of them have slight ridges at the top. I have a ridge reamer; how do...

861 Ford Diesel Engine (172 CID)

I recently bought a 861 Ford Diesel Powermaster that had been disassembled 40 years ago. I am now reassembling the engine. I am reusing the original pistons with new rings and rod bearings. The rod bearing cap bolts and nuts are present; however, I find no washers in the bucket of parts. Can...

841 Powermaster Ford Hydraulic Lift Malfunction

I purchased this tractor about two years ago. I have no history on it nor do I know how many hours are on it. It runs and operates very well other than the problem I am having currently. The hydraulic lift responds quickly and will lift a heavy load; however, it will not maintain a position...
