My latest "what is it" acquisition.

I see your point. I may try it anyway. Not being offset though....

My latest "what is it" acquisition.

Hard to get an intelligent answer an a forum anymore, but this is a possibility I had not considered. I may have to clamp these on some scrap sheet metal and see what happens. Thinking outside the box in a world where thinking is out of style! Thanks!

My latest "what is it" acquisition.

Here is one of my winter tool purchases. Bought it not knowing what it is. Doesn't look like anything I will ever use. But it seemed to need a home. Says vise grip on the shiny handle which clearly looks like it is a replacement handle. The duller remainder of the tool has the logo shown in...

    Shop bell

I have this dual bell that I am going to adopt into an alarm for the shop. The junction strip has very thin (phone line size) wires. This diagram is inside the cover to the box. A red wire attaches to one terminal, a black at the opposite end. Two terminals in between with a jumper and an...

Rentals are pretty trouble free in terms of IRS attention. It is generally understood that these are used to generate losses that can be used either currently or in the future to offset other income. That is why the whole passive activities concept was adopted back in the 1990's I believe...

    Rental sale depreciation question

Hi there! I responded to the note you left on my profile. If you don't see it let me know. You are fine with how you handled that...the IRS will not have an issue with it. Dave H (MI CPA)

That should be fine. Even 1/12 would have been fine. You should be fine with your calculation. Hope you did not wait too long for this response. I have been trying to wrap up some farm work while starting tax season...it has not been easy. I just noticed this today. Let me know if you...

If you had to choose one Oliver Super 55 , Farmall Super A, Nuffield 4/65

No brainer here...Oliver, but if a hoe is a backhoe the woods will be a problem. Comparable IH would be a 300/350 and not a SA. A comment regarding the old tractors not being reliable as mentioned below. Just not true. Problems here and there certainly but if it is good running when you buy...

To Paint or Not to Paint, That is the Question

Since you are in a temperate zone and it looks like inside storage is not happening, I would get some rattle can stuff and spray any parts that are down to bare metal and rust. Especially sheet metal. Then when you have to blast it down the road for a good paint job maybe you will have less...

Tractor Sale Gone Sour. What Would You Do?

For heavens sake, give him is $900 back and sell it to someone else. You aren't out anything and he is on fixed income. I could go on but, seriously...give him his money and move on.

706 Jacking for front tire change

Sounds like you resolved this long ago, but for what it is worth once I have the tractor jacked I use very solid cribbing as a backup. I do this on all equipment that might fall and injure.

    300u block heater

Al, if you read this (after all this time) and you can get me some pictures of your installation I would really like to see how you did it. Anything you can do would be much appreciated! You can try shooting me an email. That used to work on here...do not know if it still does.

    Tractor Stability Question

Many years ago a midwestern university did a study and issued a report on this topic. Narrow front tractors put three points on the ground thus creating a tripod. Like a camera would use. The reason cameras are on tripods is that it is the most stable configuration. Any loader tractor with a...
