    No individual tools at HF

I think if you need a warranty replacement, they just pull the tool out of a set that it comes in. At my local store there are always tool sets with a piece or 2 missing for sale in the clearance section.

    BOSS V PLOW

I've only run the boss blades to verify repairs, so I don't have much experience on them. I mounted an older unimount Western on my pickup. It came with the handheld controller, so I used it. I wasn't a big fan, so I went back to their mini joystick. I like it mounted on the left so my...

2005 E-150 Tractor Parts Hauler, Drains the Battery

You don,t necessarily have to pull fuses to find your draw. Set your voltmeter to millivolts and measure across each fuse. The one(s) that are passing current will show a few millivolts while the ones that are not will show zero. This saves waiting for a system to have to go back to sleep...

    Truck project done

Looks good Jon. Im not sue why they would have ever set that truck up like that in the first place... I did the same thing to this one. Originally it was an 18' bed with a liftgate. I built the sides and added a hoist. I also built a tailgate that folds down and I didn't want it dragging...

Gotta love living in the rust belt!

Get yourself a lock ring tool. I've used mine several times and it works pretty well. A little rattling on the ring with an air hammer will help loosen it up. Then put the tool on and put some tension on it and give it a few whacks with a hammer on the uprights. I'm not sur why GM couldn't...

All sudden a fuse blows question (update #2)

I had a friend who was having issues popping fuses on his Kubota. It was the one that controlled all of the electronics so he was dead in the water when it happened. He had another friend of his look at it (who works as a mechanic at the local dealer) and he replaced the computer. That didn't...

    Grain Truck floor

My truck had the half lap flooring in it. When I replaced it, I just bought 2x6 treated and made my own half lap. I believe I just cut them out on the table saw with a dado blade.

    O.T Butck message

There are multiple places in the evap system that can leak. The computer doesn't necessarily know where the leak is, but a loose gas cap would be the first thing to check. If it's not the cap, you'll have to dig deeper. Rusted fuel filler neck, defective vent valve, etc..

    This week's project

Looks good. How much is the clamping ring? I have one that doesn't tighten up too well.

    What do I have here?

This got dropped off by a guy I do some work for. He wants to take the mower off and get it running. It has a continental engine. The only marking I see is the decal in the last picture. Anybody know what it is?

How hot is it where you work

I used to work in a steel mill. On shutdowns, I used to get sent to the electric arc furnace to help with brick repairs. Since a normal shutdown was 16 hours, that furnace never really cooled down to a reasonable temp. They would set a big steel plate in there for someplace level to set...

Easiest way to remove cone washers

Use 2 sledge hammers. Hold one against the axle, then hit it with the other. That way you don't smash the ends of your studs. This is definitely easier with a helper, but it is doable by yourself.

    Bobcat 773 Boom Drift

I've been working on a Bobcat 773 for a guy fixing a lot of issues with it. One that I'm not too sure of the cause is the boom drifting down. It only does it when the machine is running and the lap bar is down so the hydraulics are engaged. It will hold all day if the machine is off...

    snowplow

I'm not quite sure why that wouldn't work if both cylinders are hooked to the ports for a single cylinder. It's absolutely no different than a 2 way cylinder. I have an old snowplow that I mount on my skidsteer and the angle function works off the auxiliary ports. It works fine. Are you...
