international 140

Hey guys, just picked up a 1968 international 140 serial #37699J with an L59 Woods mower on it. Decent tin, and the mower is in good shape. My question is, were only the industrial tractors painted yellow? This doesn't have the squared or diamond shaped front end, but the underlying paint seems to be the yellow. Or did they make the non industrials in yellow and red? Just curious from a repaint point of view. Thanks, Tim

You could order your tractor whatever color you wanted. It's very possible that a non industrial 140 was ordered for a large nursery or something similar that only wanted yellow tractors. A township could have been minding their pennies & didn't want to put the extra money into an industrial package. Just have it painted different. Lots of possibilities out there.

(quoted from post at 14:37:25 08/21/21) So that's all the yellow ever was? No evidence of any of this being red....
What I meant is if you're seeing yelo under the red, the yelo can be the primer.

We used to sell 140s to the state of Md a couple dozen at a time. When it was slow in the winter we would paint over the yellow on the trade ins and hang Woods mowers on them to sell in the spring. Fresh motors and new red paint, they didnt last long
