Hello,
I'm looking at buying a Kubota M9540, and noticed it appeared to have a fine splined PTO shaft. Must be 1000 RPM PTO. I didn't notice a snap ring to switch the shaft around to make it 540 RPM. All the reference online states "1000 RPM PTO Optional" for the 9540. What is involved in making it 540 RPM and is it expensive?
Thanks for any info.....

They are interchangeable shafts with a circlip as you suspected.

There are some larger Kubotas (I think M-105s) that were stripped down as an economy model with only a 540 shaft and gearing. You have to buy a 1000$ kit to get 1000 rpm capability on them.
