Trying to find out which model IH plow this is. It fit's a farmall C, or super C. It is a fully mounted plow but not for fast hitch. The painted red items in the picture is the mounting hardware for the under side of the tractor. Would like to know the difference's between a model C-294, C-295, and C-295A. I believe it's one of the three I listed. I'm kind of thinking C-294. Can anyone tell from looking at the picture?

Thanks,
Matthew

From what I can see it looks like the plow for a C. The lifting rod comes down the left side on a C and the right side for a Super C. I don't see the rear rockshaft anywhere. This bolts to the axle bractets and then is connected by a chain to actually lift the plow. I have pictures of mine mounted on my C. Drop me an email and I can send you a couple of pictures. The parts manual for the C implements is at home. I will try to look at it to determine the model for the C.

I have PARTS BOOK FOR FARMALL C IMPLEMENTS.294 plows have a tailwheel, yours doesn't appear to have one

C-295 plows were only built in 48 and 1949,C-295-A plows were built from 51 onward, and there doesn't seem to be much differences in the two,so I believe your plows are C-295-A plows.

Mathew: Plow has to be C-294 or C-295. A on the end would indicate it's for a Super A.

It's definately not a C-295-A (built 1951 thru 55), the cushion springs are mounted completely different.

C-294 (built 1948 - 1949) was made for 4 arm hydraulic unit. C-295 (built 1949 - 1950 was for 3 arm hydraulic unit. The difference is in the rear rockshaft assy. Only 1 rod going to hydraulic unit on left side of tractor for C-295. C-294 has 2 rods on one each side of the tractor. The plow and under mounting parts would be identical. There was a design change to the first beam in 1950 changing the part number from 513 532 R1 to 515 802 R1.

From the picture could be either C-294 or C-295.

Matthew: Your plow may be none of the plows you listed. The position of the plow lift on top blocks the view of back cross member between the beams. If that back cross member is diagnol flat bar, it will be a plow built at Canton IL Most Canton built plows had A, B, C, H or M in front of the number, and the letter indicated the tractor plow was intended for.

Then there are also Hamilton ON built plows and they all had model numbers that started C-xxx C in this case indicating Canada. Canadian built IH plows all have a perpendicular or square across back cross member. Given your location and the fact that all those years Canadian dollar was $0.75 or less USD, a lot of equipment, all makes got trucked to Michigan.

That is the only real difference between US and Canadian built plows, doesn't matter what size or configuration. US built plow has diagnol cross member, Canadian built has perpendicular cross member. The reason for the perpendicular cross members, they give an adjustable width frame. By configuration I mean trailer, fast hitch or 3 point hitch. This happened as a result of different plow cutting widths wanted in eastern Canada than in western Canada, one frame served all. A lot of those Canadian built plows got sold new in New England.
