I'M LOOKING FOR A COMBINE WITH HYDROSTATIC DRIVE & HAVE A CHANCE TO BUY A MODLE E GLEANER FOR 500$ IN THE MORNING .. I'M ONLY WANTING THE DRIVE OUT OF A COMBINE TO USE IN A PROJECT..
SO DOES A MODEL E HAVE HYDROSTATIC DRIVE ? WHAT KIND OF MOTOR ?

E Gleaners didnt have a hydro.

Check out like a John Deere 33,44,or 7700. Some of those had hydros. Also some the 715,815,and 915"s did if im not mistaken.

The 3300 and 4400 never had the hydro option. 6600 and 7700 did.

Some F combines had hydro, but not too many. Talk to some hydro rebuilders before you buy- especially an old one. Sunstrand and someone else made them years ago- might find that IH and JD had better units than old Gleaners. I really hate to say that- but just what a rebuilder told me. Do your own research. I think you'll provide two major suppliers between various brands.

Best to leave the old Model E Gleaner to someone else, then, for 2 main reasons. First of all, the E does not have any hydrostatic unit to cannibalize. Second, Model E Gleaners are rare enough as it is, so don't need for a good runner to be just whacked only for a particular component.

Maybe for even less than what the Gleaner would cost, you may find just what you're looking for, from a regular salvage such as Mike's Equipment, Inc.
