How do you know if you have a #9 or 999 planter. The one I'm dealing with has the cast lids that say Deere and Mansur on them. I've seen pictures of both from the side and I can't tell the difference. I'm trying to do a write up for a display and really need to know which one I have. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way is to get a parts book and start checking some parts. Some of the differences are in the check heads. Is it a 2 roller or 4 roller. What does it use for markers? Does it have a single pole in the center of the back or a arm on each side? These are some of the differences but the parts books can help a lot. There is also a 99 planter and a 22 plus variations.
