Must say it would be nice. But if you have a 80 or 100 hp motor and a 28 hp drive train how does that work. In the 60s GTOs had a lot of hp but they could turn a pinion gear into pinecone and or a ring gear into frisbee.

They were primarily for belt work.

The original Funk conversions had a belt driven governor.

Most of todays V8 conversions have no governor.

My grandfather used to tractor pull in the late 70's early 80's when it was a little less costly to be competitive. He put a 427 BB Chevy and 400 turbo trans in front of the Massey's stock trans and rear end. You look at how much power that big block was putting out and then look at the gear multiplication of the 400 trans when it was in anything but 3rd gear and that stock tractor's drivetrain was seeing way more power than it was originally designed for.

39-52 Ford tractors used gears from 1937 Ford Model 79 truck.
Part numbers bear this out. Prefix is 79 for the gears. 6.67 gear ratio.
V8 was rated at 85HP in 1937 model 79.

Agreed. Wheel slip limited the torque load in the drive train.

The rear pinion support is the well known weak link in 9/2/8N/NAA models. It is prone to failure when these tractors are loaded down with weights, etc., and worked hard even with the OEM engines.
