Is it safe to use ramps to raise a Chevy k1500 to remove and replace the side mount fuel tank instead of Jack Stands?
Thanks,
Bill

probably safer than the jack stands...use your floor jack under the tank if it has fuel in it..should work okay.

Ramps are less work then jack stands and both need solid base on which to stand. Concrete or hard pack parking pad is better than ground. The challenge with these tanks is getting at the fittings on top of the tank since there is very little slack to drop the tank and remove the fuel line and fuel guage line. Remember that these items have not been removed in a long time and will resist being parted.
