Phillip has a discussion on talk about BMR corn but I don't want to hijack it asking about floury corn! Has any one used it and seen any difference in yield or production? I guess should just
try some and see for myself, between the BMR and floury. Companies don't seem to help they are just trying to push sales good or bad. My dad just tells me to stick with what you know works, but
he is an old guy and not much for change! LOL |

The floury will be somewhat cheaper than the BMR. The new BMR (Unified) is BOTH floury and BMR. |

Thanks coonie, I looked at Mycogens website and see there is not even a number for it yet, I will give it a try next year. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on the matter, what you replied to both posts makes a lot of sense. |

The lreal new stuff is very limited in supply, I am told. My rep for SE WI has 200 bags total. For such a big intro, you'd think they'd have more. |

Brown Swiss, do you have a kernel processor on your chopper? If not, you should think about considering the floury stuff first... and definitely think about the processor. |

No I have an 800 Gehl I bought from the neighbor this year, was looking to get a 900 NH but he offered the Gehl to me for 400 with both heads. I figured the 900 if it didn't have one I could put one on later down the road. There seems to be a big difference from the first processors to the new ones. Had a custom guy years ago when a 45 FX New Holland was new, and it did its job but then last year I hired him again he had a 9060 NH and the kernels where ground up. I haven't looked the literature on them but guessing they have one one roll going faster then the other, my literature on the 7500 Hesston bragged about that and that must have been 10 or 15 years ago, 7500 Hesston would have been a Dion chopper. Thanks again. |

You are correct, the roll speed differential varies between machines. The roll tooth pattern has evolved, too. Many older machines can be made better by changing one pulley. I did that on a Gehl 1285. |
