I bought one a while back for use not only with the truck I'm in, but also for trailer tires. Ended up getting this:

Their next-smaller model can either plug into a 12v socket or connect to a battery, but I wanted a little more umph so went with this model. However, the battery was a long ways away from the trailer tires, so ended up buying several of these:

ALL of these are very high-quality components! And as a bonus, when I got the compressor, it was $16 higher than it is right now!! I keep it all in a small fabric suitcase...like an overnight bag or something. Is really tough material, and I know at a glance what's in it.

I'm very happy to have invested a few dollars more for the quality, as I have no less than 6 of the el-cheapo compressors sitting around here; one that doesn't work and has never been used, and another that quit working after 2 or 3 uses. They just can't stand up to having to air up larger tires.
Another thing to consider is how much time it'll take for your compressor to get the job done. The smallest compressors will take forever. What if you need air while on the road? In inclement weather? In a bad neighborhood? ....Ok, ok...I'd run it flat for a while in that case! Shocked
