Can someone advise as to the bolt torque for
the 4 bolts of the upper water pipe on the
1950 B? This is a recent re assembly and I
have a slow coolant leak at the front. I cut a
rubber gasket. Should I have used cork? I used
good quality, thread sealer and copper washer
on the front left bolt.
I haven't yet run the engine and wonder if the
gasket might seal once it's warmed up?
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't worry about bolt torque, just snug em down good.

The biggest problem is getting both surfaces clean. They can be pitted a little. I used a wire wheel on a drill, wiped down with brake cleaner, sprayed a 1/32 thick fiber material gasket with copper coat and no leaks so far. Also wire wheeled the bolts and installed with anti seize and copper washer on left front bolt.

I would question the use of rubber, for your gasket material. Regular paper gasket material might have worked better.

Thanks for your comments Loren and 620 John. I'm very happy to report that a little more "snugging down" on the upper coolant casting bolts seems to have sealed it. I wasn't looking forward to disassembling the grill, hood etc to change out the gasket. I had used anti seize on the bolts and thread sealant and washer on that left front bolt. "Next time" I'll consider a fibre gasket. I'm very much a novice on this project. Closest Fellow 2 cylinder enthusiast is 40 min away...and has been very helpful and become a great friend! Imagine that! This forum continues to provide a wealth of information. Thank you from Eastern Ontario! Merry Christmas!

The upper water pipe attached to the top of the engine block ? None of the grilles or hood have to come off the change that.
