|
|
We have a 674 international diesel.
The tank is rusted internal.
I have tried coating other tanks in the past and never had any luck with that method.
I can not find a new tank.
Is their any after market sources where I could find one?
I am afraid of used tanks since it could be rusted internal also you just never know what your getting when you buy used.
Thanks |

I've used the coating on diesel tanks with no problems. You must get all the fuel out and rinse out good with acetone. Then let it dry for a day or two before coating. I only had small leaks so I don't know how it would work on larger leaks. For $30 it would be worth a try if you can't find a replacement. |

I am not positive but maybe the fuel tank off of the later C90 Case Ih tractors will work and I think they are plastic part # 531125R4 |

I've had good luck on diesel tanks and even one off a 674 using Red Kote. Pressure wash it with purple stuff of heavy duty degreaser, muratic acid to remove any rust, dump some Ospho or your favorite navel jelly / phosphoric acid in it to treat the bare metal then Red Kote. Obviously getting all the oily fuel out first and the metal clean is key.
Those 674 tanks were designed from IH to rot out. Traps moisture between tank and fenders in the dust that collects there over time. Plus the little bit of wiggle between it and fender rubs paint off and rust starts.
If its the bottom of the tank you can always clean it good, cut out the rusty metal and weld in new stuff. Have done that on really bad tanks. |

on my 584 the side panels on the tank had pin holes, took to a radiator shop and they cleaned and weld up holes then red coated it and no problems, also I have a c80 and for the most part are the same tank type set up. if you can't get your tank fixed you may want to look at the plastic tanks off and c70,c80 not sure if there Is a change in fuel tank size on the models. |

If you inspect the used tank before you buy it, and don't buy it if it's rusty, then you will not have any issues with a used tank.
According to the CaseIH partstore website, the C90 fuel tank is also NLA as a new part. I was gonna look up a price for you but it appears you can't get it at any price. |

Try looking at J.P.Salvage in Fredricktown Mo They have been exellent to work with in the past also ASAP tractor parts has been go to deal with also.
I had a couple of pickup tanks done with the Gas tank renezit stuff about 25 years ago and still not leaking.
I guess we are the only ones to not have much for problems with fuel tanks on 574-674 tractors. Bought the 574 new and have kept it inside most of it's life. I am sure that has helped. |

We haven't had any problems with either one of our 674's either, both gas, one has 3200 hours, the other has 1800 hours. |

Worthington Ag in MI did have a couple 574 or 674 tractors not too long ago, they'd probably have a tank. |
