5000 lbs capacity should lift a round bale depends on how you rig the linkage up for the bale lift

A round bale should weigh about 1000lbs. You will get some mechanical advantage with the lift system. A common 2000 lb 'come-along'/cable puller should easily suffice. You probably already have one in your tool box.

Considering a 5x6 tightly rolled, high teens in moisture weighs 1600#, a suitable 5x5 will come in at 1108#. Considering ft-lbs, you could reach out a couple of feet and lift it with a 1 ton puller. Considering most are at least 2 ton, then you have room to spare and then some.
