It's been a few years since I pulled the PTO assy off my 990, but I don't recall having to work on anything outside of the PTO cover itself. It's not a bad job at all. But you have to be careful putting it back together and get the hyd pump gears messed right by bumping the starter so that it slides in correctly. If you don't you can chip the gear teeth or break the gears and that get's expen$ive.

ok a guy said there 2 7/16 bolt under for hydraulic pipe a brass fitting he said to take off before pulling the pto unit off he said its right behind the hydraulic filter cover and is there a way to line up pump gear so it wont chip the gear like a special way to do it and is it better to pull the pto unit strait out or if it tilts a little does it matter i dont want to break nothing i found the bearing with snap ring the one you cant get no more RBL makes them

Cut the heads off of 2 6" long bolts, screw them in holes on opposite sides of the housing, and use them as guide rods to slide the PTO box off and on. It makes meshing the gears and aligning easy versus fighting it while trying to hold up the heavy gear box.
