Is there a place on an early D17 series one
to install a block heater?

If so what size?

Thanks!

I don't think so. You could check on a lower radiator hose one.

Tank type heater using the block drain to feed it and cut the bypass hose in two and install a TEE for the hot water to go into. Either that or a lower hose heater. This is for a gas engine.

Size depends on how long you care to wait to get it warm. Tank heaters typically come in 750/1000/1500 watt size.
