Thanks for all the info and replies. What I get will not be pounding pavement every day. It will mostly be used to haul tractors to shows (normally 10-12k load) and hauling hay and straw. Wanted the extra capacity over my 16k old one so I could throw a heavier tractor on if need be. There have been a few times I wanted to haul tractors on 15k range which I wasn't comfortable doing with my old one. I figure what will limit me now is my pickup (01 dodge 2500). When the time comes, I'll upgrade to a 3500 or even a single axle semi, but I plan on keeping this trailer for a while so want a heavier now.

Remember that trailer ratings are axle capacity+hitch capacity-empty trailer weight.

Ended up with a 25+5 h&h with the big ramps. Might not be the best out there, but found one 1yr old that looked like new for a very good price. Will work for me. Thanks for the input guys.

I have an Appalachian 20+4 deck over goose neck 12k. Its rated for a load of 10,200 lbs with a 1800 lbs pin weight.
It is definitely a lighter built trailer and I have been hauling Farmalls on these App trailers for years.

For my uses, its adequate. I haul to local tractor pulls, use it for moving large amounts of firewood a couple times a year, and do the occasional favor for someone.
It sits out back almost all the time.

Anyone accustomed to the build of a PJ would cry foul over this level of construction but I load it to capacity or a little beyond for most tractor pulls I go to.

Point in case: lighter build trailers are fine for people like me.
Not so much for heavy every day usage.
The average farmer would likely be fine within its rated payload.
