Don't mean to complain but if I was just listening to them someone would have to have told me they were country songs. I guess a lot of country aint country anymore.

My dad used to say the same thing about groups like Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys that they weren't real country, just like the country song says times goes on and everything changes.

I think country music is still just that.. The songs tell a story that you can relate to.
We don't spend days on a horse herding cattle anymore. Today song writers and singers portray todays life styles, and feelings the same as Hank, the Hag, and Johnny Cash did. It is a very different world out there to sing about today, and there are some very talented people still making todays country music.

True, but to me it seems like country songs coming out in the past 5 years are more "country" then they have been for the previous 10 to 20.

I seems to me the problem is people producing country music don't understand what constitutes country music. The first song was country after that , not country.

Well ya all need to consider this. How many times can your mobil home be reposesed, blow away, or get washed away in a flood. You dog dies, runs away, has ticks, fleas, cross eyed, messes with the neighbors dog etc. Your woman is beautiful, ugly, cooks great, burns water, runs away, has 18 kids, wears a bathrobe all of the time. You work in a coal mine, the mine closed, the boss is a jerk, the coal train jumped the tracks, steam engine whistle echoes down the valley at night. What else have I left out.
