looked at a case 1450 dozer yesterday. the guy says it starts, runs and pushes good, hes going to put batteries in it so it can be started. It will need a new front idler or bearings and he says father in law removed the turbo due to not wanting to spend money on a new one. under carriage looks good except for the rf idler. asking 8000.00. now the questions, are these machines any good, going to be used for light farm use. can parts be found? what do I need to look for when it gets started? are there bearings in the front idlers? I have turned some wrenches on dozers , but that was 40 years ago. should I run away? I know to many questions!! ha thanks for any input.

There are straight roller bearings in the idlers, the outer cone fits into the idler and the inner cone with the rollers fits on the shaft, the engine must be well down on power with the turbo missing, what a fix,I looked it up before for someone and the pump and injectors were different, the 504 engine came with and without a turbo and were set up to suit, the 1450 was an ok of a machine but like everything they are all good while they stay going.

Other than the obvious, I would want to work it hard for maybe an hour while I watched the oil pressure and temp (both engine and torque convertor if equipped).
