Just about. Things went downhill fast after 1970 and by 1973 they were all hat and no cattle. Didn't really come back until the early 90's with the 5.0 Mustangs.

Realistically, about any post 1995 muscle car would blow the doors off the classics, if not in outright acceleration, certainly in handling, braking, reliability and mileage.

nice,,there was a show on the history channel about muscle cars just the other night.They talked of the superbird.When they were in the dealership for sale they didnt sell, sometimes sat there for years.Some dealers even took off the wing and front end,,changed it,,to get rid of them.I found that interesting.Now of course,,they are valuable.

I can understand why they didn't sell, I always thought they were butt-ugly.

They just had to make them available for sale. Only production cars could race.

They still had the big block SS Chevelles and GTOs for a couple years I think.
