Was wondering is I need to pull the motor ahead to get the belt pulley gearbox off. I need to change the input shaft seal.

I am replacing the imput seal to the trans as well on a 77. Can you confirm that you have to remove the belt pully to do that job? Is it a hard job? I have pulled the engine already to do the rear main seal as well.
Thanks
