Hello All,
Looking to paint my industrial massey tractor. Currently, she's really rough. Lots of rust, and tons of grease. My intention is not to make a show tractor by any means, I just want to beautify it a bit, and mostly stop the rust.

My idea would first be to rent a steam pressure washer, and clean degrease the tractor. Then do some disassembly (hood / fuel tank) mask off gauges / fan belt alternator.

Prime and paint. I do have a paint sprayer which I have never used, its an HVLP air gun (can't remember the brand) but I am not sure my compressor will have enough gumption for it.
I have a friend that brush painted his tractor, the sprayed over to remove brush marks.

Whats the thought on my plan. Any suggestions on what paint / primer to use, or if I should prime. I want to go with the new caterpillar yellow (the duller creamier yellow, not the really bright yellow of the older cats)

thanks very much

Before you get the pressure washer on the clock spend some time with a scraper, then prespray it with a solvent based degreaser. Contact time is your greatest friend.
