Took some pics yesterday of a combine. Tag says Model 956-911? What year could this be? Probably been here for 40+ years based on the size of the trees. Was a cultivated field. Has electric raise-lower for the header. Quite a machine in its day?

Super 26, I believe (judging from the smaller grain tank than the Super 27). About 1950 era. Take a look at the brochure linked below. (.pdf format)

Here"s a photo of me, taken in about 1961, next to our Super 27.

Can't help on the model, but neat pictures. Makes you wonder what happened, especially if it's in the middle of a former field like that.

Thanks for the PDF of the Massey Harris. I'm sure I'll spend hours perusing thru that.

I concur. Its a Super 26 or 27 last built in '52 I believe. We had a super 26 from '57 to about 65.

I used to own a super 27. Main feature is the mechanical variable speed. You combine heavy foot pressure on the pedal on the left with pulling the lever on the right to pull the pulley open against the springs. Lever all the way back was stopped, lever all the way forward was fast, with many notches in between. The 265 Chrysler with a 2 1/2 straight pipe made the best music ever.

The tracks for the old combines are pretty neat. Look like the newer Cat skidders with the elevated sprockets.

Its sitting behind a former gas station. The owner
was known locally as kind of a mechanical wizard. He
had lots of home built machinery. This combine may
have been a parts donor?
