i just found a farmall 230 original in pretty decent shape that runs good no smoke with a fast hitch disk, disk plow and tool bar for $1600. Is this a good buy? I don't know much about farmalls but have heard 230's are a bit scarcer than others and are worth a bit more than other models. Any opinions welcome. |

The 230 is the descendant of the Super C with updated sheet metal and I think it has a bigger engine. Sounds like a deal to me. The only bad thing I have heard about them is that they still had transmission driven PTO, which was outdated at the time they were built.

There were slightly more then 7000 Farmall 230's made between 1956 and 1958 and it was replaced in 1958 by the Farmall and International Utility 240 models. The implements you note if all are fast hitch ones are worth close to the price of the total package if in decent condition. If you have never been around fast hitch implements you will find them very easy to hook-up and use. Better get that deal wrapped up before someone else hears about it and by the way the Farmall C through the 240 series (includes the 230) tractors are some of the handiest tractors IHC ever produced, Hal. |

Sounds like a really good deal. BTW, the 230 has the same basic C123 engine as the SC thru 240, but probably cranks out a few more ponys than the SC and 200. The 240 has even a couple more HP. |
