Do the parts from three and two disk hand clutches interchange? My nephew has a WD45 older model with straight shifter and a very wore out 2 disk wet clutch.

I doubt very much if that is a WD-45, as they all had the bent shifter. Sounds like you have a plain WD. Look on the right side of the motor, is there a plate there? Runs the whole length of the block. Its about 4" tall. As far as I know, the parts are not the same.

All early WDs had the straight shifter handle. The curved shifter (with helical cut trans gears) began in 1952 with WD Serial #WD127007 and carried over to the WD-45s.
WD-45s beginning with Serial #WD165056 were also equipped with the 3 disc transmiision (hand) clutch.
Except for the third disc they are basically the same and most parts interchange.
As I have said before, "a manual is a wonderful thing".

A curved shifter indicates production date not Wd or 45. LOL

Have any of the shims been removed yet? (See item 3 below) You adjust the hand clutch by REMOVING shims.
