I know I am not in the right forum but you folks always come through with wisdom.
I need to replace the electric fuel pump on my JD 425 lawn tractor. The stock pump is too pricey, I want to replace it with a generic one. This tractor uses a 20 HP liquid cool Kawasaki engine. I see ebay ads for 1-3 and 3-5 psi and above. I was wondering what would be the correct psi pressure I should use for this engine.
I am guestimating 1-3 psi, but I really don't know. Ideas?

NCmau,1-3 psi would work for your 20 HP Kawasaki engine.Any more than 3 psi could cause the carb to flood over.

That pump is IN THE TANK, just like modern cars, and only costs about $70.00 from DEERE. And you're going to mangle an in-line pump into the line out side the tank?

Better remove the pump INSIDE the tank and re-work the dip-tube so the new pump doesn't have to draw fuel THROUGH the old pump, or it's life will be SHORT!

Yes Bob, I am aware of that. I plan remove the existing pump and replace it with a tube and place the new pump close to the carburetor. Maybe I am wrong but I rather have an external one. (I just hope that the new pump will have enough suction to draw from the tank with couple feet + of fuel line)
