I have a Nu Bilt model 1073 10 ton running gear that I need to rebuild the front end on. I bought it from another farmer that left it parked outside for many years, so the spindles were rusted solid. I had a friend press the rusted spindles out for me. Now I want to repack wheel bearings, and need to repalce the tie rod end bolts and bushings. Anyone know much about these running gears? Good, bad or whatever. It is built very heavy. Are they out of business? I see they were made in Owatonna Minnesota. Thank you everyone.

kow, are you sure it is a nu-built running gear? We had two nu-built flare boxes that we bought new but we put them on Minnesota gears as I did not think nu-built made gears. Did you find the nomanclature tag? |

I found a tag on the back of the gear. It is not a normal metal tag though. It says Nu Bilt model 1073 with the serial number also, made in Owatonna. Do you think this could be a different manufacturer? I couldn't find any info on the NU bilt gears on the internet last night. The gear is a darker orange color. I can't think who else made the orange colored running gears other than the Minnesota gears and Case, possibly others I guess too?

Hi Kurt, The 1073(later 1074) and other models
were marketed by Lindsay Bros and no doubt built
by someone else(poss Nubilt?)I don't remember
them having another name on them but Lindsay tho. |

Loren,
I don't believe I ever heard of Kory running gears before. Do you know if they made their own equipment? I am just wondering how good the Nu Bilt gears are for reliability. I know it all depends on how and who takes care of them. Thanks for the info.

I just got a 1966 Lindsay Farm Catalog off of ebay. It is complete! When I get home, I will look at what running gears are in the catalog. I bought it to see about the wood barge boxes. My dad has a barge box with Lindsay painted on the front and Nu Bilt painted on the sides. There are lots of smaller companies that either Lindsay distributed or was the parent company for--not sure though.
Does any body out there have any Lindsay or Nu Bilt wood barge wagons? I will post a picture of the wagon later. |

Kory's are sold at Fleet Farm and other farm stores. If it's made in Owatona Mn. it was probly made by the Owatona company. They made grinder/mixers, swathers, haybines and some other stuff. I think they became part of agco. |
