hyd pump seizing

has anyone ever had a hyd pump get so hot that it may seiz up an shut down the engine < seams after it cools down i can start engine again till pump gets very hot to the touch an happen again < pump has been getting noisier over last year or could this be a different problem , any info would be great Thanks Dave

concerning hyd pump seizing i forgot to state that it is a 1755 oliver (1972) with 4500 hrs

Heat is one of the major killers of a piston type hydraulic pump. It may be too late already, but you need to find the problem and solve it!

You might want to ck and see if someone put the wrong oil in the sump.
