|

Hi guys, I'm fixing a birds nest of wiring and putting it all back to stock, down to the cigarette lighter. Does anyone know where it goes? It was hooked up to the negative side of the ammeter? There is no listing in my original IH manuals. Anything will help.
Thanks,

Negative side of the ammeter would make sense. It needs "non-keyed" power so you can light your cigarette when the tractor is off. |

The lighter goes on right side of dash just above the fuel gauge. |

IIRC, the proper IH term was "cigar lighter"
My family is pretty tall. Dad and uncles all 6'4" and more. Between us there were about 1/2 dozen 460 / 560's. All had key switch and lighter reversed positions, to keep from busting off the key with your knee!
Never knew this was backward, until I started wrenching at the local IH dealer! |

I had pulled a lot of broken keys out of the switches on 460 and 560 tractors. We would cut most of the head off a new key so that there was only enough left sticking out of the switch to be able to turn it on or off. |
