Welllllllllll the problem has to be my laptop, I have a new Belkin N300 Wireless Router and still my laptop (working wireless as it has for over a year no changes were made) will NOT load any web pages at any sites (with anti virus off or on or firewalls off or on) although all diagnosis shows connected and all possible network and wireless fixes and changes have been made and regardless if using the internal wireless or an external wireless USB adapter THE LAPTOP WILL NOT LOAD A WEB PAGE although it will download upgrade files etc and the wifes Kendall works wireless and this desktop puter obviously works off the Modem and Belkin Router (same as on old D Link Router)

Laptop may be headed to the shop Im just not smart enough to fix it although each and every diagnosis and network fixes and security fixes and anti virus off and firewall off and all Network and Internet settings have been tried at least twice all to no avail

This is makin me angry I hate a machine to beat me lol

A Frustrated John T

You sound very frustrated John T.
Did you check that proxy server setting I mentioned?
Clearing internet history/cookies/cache has probably already been tried?
Since you're getting updates, I'm assuming your laptop is getting an IP
address and is actually connected to the internet.
It either can't resolve the name of a website or is being blocked.
Can you open a command prompt and ping Google.com?
Should see something like the picture below.
If not, can you ping the IP address? ping 74.125.225.136

I hooked the laptop up hardwired via a LAN cable (to eliminate any wireless problems) and still no web pages will load on any sites, still shows good connection via LAN this time. Its NOT a wireless problem, LAN works on this desktop but LAN nor Wireless either one will load a web page on the dern laptop.

That's kind of what I expected. The problem is with the browser.
Either a setting or corruption.
IE has a button that resets it to default settings, if you haven't tried that.
It's under the Tools>Internet Options menu.
Another option if it has been updated is to go to control panel and uninstall
the latest version of IE to see if the older one will work, then re-upgrade.
If I may borrow a term, no warranty expressed or implied!
Obviously if the old version doesn't work, you won't be able to re-upgrade.
You could also try another browser, Firefox, Chrome etc downloaded on
another PC and then transferred via thumb drive to this one.
It's tricky to find a "full install" though, most are just stubs that download
from the web when the installer runs, but that may work in your case.

Edit - installing another browser would also be non-destructive.
You can have all three of them installed and working with no trouble.

Call your Internet service provider, most are very helpful even if it is not their problem.

Sounds like a DNS settings on your puter.

Try entering "http://74.125.225.136 into your address bar and see if that takes you to Google.

DNS resolved the name from the command line when he pinged it.

It certainly won't hurt to hear the results,
but DNS has nothing to do with a browser either.
DNS resolves the Name to the IP address.
Regardless of whether in a browser or via Ping.

Well, I don't claim to know the first thing about computers, my wife says it's gotta be magic. I started with internet explorer a lotta years ago. When the little problems started, I replaced IE with Mozzilla Firefox, and haven't had any problems with it. And I think it's simpler.

Royse- I do not want to sound 'rude' but, I disagree.

I just wish John T would try this.
