What tractor?? Makes a big difference as to the help we might be able to give you. Could be a fuel problem since timing doesn't just all at once jump out of timing on most tractors

Probly lack of fuel or the advance is not working. Take the plug out of the bottom of the carburetor and see if you get good flow after a minute. Catch a pint or so in a can. If the timing is off enough to keep it from running good at full throttle it would not start easy. If the advance is stuck it will start good and run good at idle but falter as you run the RPM's up.
Fuel flow is the most common problem.

Model and serial number should be on the left side frame rail. Either way timing doesn't just go out since they are gear drive cams. Bet you have a point or carb problem. Your spark needs to be a blue white at all four plugs and jump a 1/4 inc gap or more. Also gas flow out to carb drain plug should be a good steady flow for a few minutes. Catch the gas to look for water and dirt etc.
