I have a 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 7.3 Power Stroke with 278000 miles and it runs as good as new that Tows tractors in the Summer and Snowmobile trailer and plows Snow in the Winter and is my daily Driver to work etc!

I change Oil and filter every 5000 miles with Rotella or Mobil Oil.

How long will it Run ?

798,169 miles outta this one. With a little TLC, they should run damn near forever.

While in college I serviced three F450's with the power stroke that had over 400k on them. Guy hauled used tires from Nashville to recylcler in AL. They kept the road HOT! In my opinion they still had another 100k left in them easy.

Where I work they have a 99 f250 with 255000 and she's getting to be tough to start, it's gotten oil changed every 5000 and hauls skidloader for its early life, just gets drove now. Has had minor things go wrong, but don't know how long it's got left.

I would have the glow plugs checked out. The relays on them tend to fail.

We have a 95 powerstroke with 325,000 on it and a 01 with 350,000 or more. Both get oil changes at 5000 miles and frequently pull trailers. The most we have done to them has been valve cover gaskets and and a water pump in each. Both still start great and run like a top.

I had a 94 that I sold and my son ran into the guy a few years later and it had 490,000 and he just put a transmission in it and also the universal joints since he new I never changed them. I have a 96 with 339.000 on it and still going strong. I also have a 2006 with the 6.0 and have put one turbo and the head gaskets are bad with 117,000. Wish I had bought another 7.3.

I can only hope for these kind of miles out of mine. I ordered my "03 in late September & received it just before the shutdown for the 6.0/Torque Shift change over.

Looked at one the other day at a used car lot and it had 415,000 miles on it. It was in a F-250.

Heavy duty testing uses the "B" scale.
B10 means 10% fail at a certain mileage, B50 means 50% fail, etc.

International T444E and Ford Powerstroke 7.3 have a B10 rating of 200,000 miles. B50 of 350,000 miles. That means half of them make it to 350,000 miles of hard use with no major repairs.

The Max-force Ford 6.4 liter - as Ford has a B10 rating of 262,500 miles. B50 - 375,000 miles.

Cummins. The 5.9 diesel has a B10 rating of 210-250,000 miles and a B50 of 350,000 miles. More or less the same as the Ford IH "Navigating the Stars" diesels.
