PO of my 1206 made a goofy engagement system for the PTO on it. Now my BIL had a 826. Engagement plunger on his PTO pulls up over center to engage. Mine has to go down. I'd like to fix mine so it's right. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rick

You have a newer style PTO. Most likely it was originally installed in a late model 86 series tractor or a 3x88 tractor. Probably was changed to get a dual speed PTO. A 1206 was shipped with only a single speed PTO.

OK I do have dual PTO. Any idea of how to fix this or do I need that over center parts from an 86 series tractor?

Like Owen said, you have a later style pto. They engage when the plunger goes down. It is locked in by a internal piston and ball mechanism in the valve so therefore you do not need or want an overcenter linkage. If the pressure is not up to snuff they will not stay engaged and also the pressure is not adjustable with the spool like the older style pto's. It has a separate relief valve inside the pto. Those relief valves have a fine screen in them that plugs up and then you don't get good pressure for engagement. The pto may appear to run fine but it just won't stay engaged. Of course, other reasons for low pressure also.

OK from what you guys have said the lock that keeps it on isn't locking. If forced into the on position it works fine. Just wont shut off all the way.
