My tractor starts with no problem but when I start using the tractor (mowing or pulling a disc)the engine starts losing power. The RPM's fall off and it starts to sputter, but once I push in the clutch the engine runs OK. Does anyone have any idea what I could check?

Check fuel flow. Remove plug in bottom carb. Should have a nice steady stream. Load takes more fuel so it will idle nice, but have trouble when demand is for more fuel.

Front or side distributor?

When is the last time you replaced the points, plugs, condenser, rotor & cap & checked the timing? (tip # 40)

Yep, my money is on fuel supply.

I had the same problem. Evelyn would run ok at 3/4 but not full throttle.

Leaves in the sediment bowl and elbow filter at carb.

yeah, check the super secret fuel screen in the carb inlet elbow. Or it could be a plugged fuel tank vent. Good luck.
