Buyer beware!!! Tried to get info on the so called 44 Vineyard. Talked to auctioneer about the reality of the tractor. Was suppose to send pics two day ago. One was to be the serial number. We were also suppose to test telephone reception today without a call. IMHO I can not call the tractor a Vineyard (no hand clutch, no separated brakes, no 26" rear wheels)!! Sent him pics of three other vineyards (all with the above) so maybe he does not want to hear that it is not a Vineyard.
Might rank up there with the rare 44 Special Diesel that is also listed!! (Only 44 made)!?!?!? Not sure where they got that number either!! Must be a collection of dreams.

Be careful!!

Just went back to the auction web site and the auctioneer DID post a pic of the serial number and the front of tractor. Unfortunately, I can not translate how 14776 becomes 1029 in the serial number. At best the 44 Vineyard is a 1951 44 standard with a "V" stamped behind it.

Thanks for sharing the updated information but...

Wish Dick was still alive :>(

Just face it, the auctioneer probably dont know what tractor is for sure or even care. Chances are he is going on what he is being told. He probably dont have time to research everything. It aint that big of a sale item and he isnt going to make that much comission on it.
At a auction you usually buy what you see and if you buy the item ,it becomes your problem.
Dont blame the auctioneer, it is your choice if you buy it or not. Nobody forcing you to buy it!
Good luck

Hi Bob,

I totally agree with you. As I noted, the auctioneer did what he said he would do. I appreciated his posting the serial number on the auction site - not just sending it to me. Auctioneer is only as good as the inforamtion the owner shares with them. Like I said- "it must be a collection of dreams" Just didn't want someone to travel miles thinking they were going to buy a rare tractor.
