Somebody before me has messed with it. It only has
one fuel filter on it, and the element in it is
not stock. Parts were removed, and spacers and
such were installed. (to allow the wrong filter to sort of be used in it!) It has not run in 2 yrs. We
want to put a temporary bottle on it, with a fuel
line to the injector pump, as a temporary fix, to
see if there are bigger problems with before we
buy all new filters, and lines, and the filter
housings too. Is How much pressure should be
applied to the injector, ie, how high should we
install our temporary fuel source, (after we get
her running, we will abandon the bottle) but we
want to see if the injection pump is ok before
investing alot in it. I'm thinking that 3-4 ft above the tractor, with a good little fine filter should about do it. Thanks everybody for any help you provide. ~ Nate

I spoke with the Old Man in Kentucky at Rolling Acres Tractor Shop. He has a Fordson at his shop that was pulled out of a woods where it sat many years. He said to pull the plug on the pump and check to see if the pump has fuel in it fill the pump with ATF and clean diesel. Then take a suction gun fill ,it with ATF and clean diesel and push the ATF thru the filter fill it and the line and into the pump follow it with clean diesel and the dummy tank can be about a qt. which should run the tractor long enough to see if you have any major problems. He said the ATF will clean and protect the pump and injectors! He also said he would work on it for you if you needed his help. I have seen him repair a lot of tractors and get them going in some strange ways!

Thanks for your reply! I am in SW Arkansas, and this is my first tractor. I have a 1993 dodge diesel 1 ton, and it has NEVER let me down, except once, when I got a dirty load of diesel, and had to change the filter, on the road side! Clean fuel is probably very important. I'll try your advice. Thanks!

Got her running today. She has alot of blowby, but it could be partly due to having not run in a while. We had to pull start her. There is an oil leak behind the oil pressure gauge. Time to find parts, and get her fixed right. Need an air intake rubber tube, from the filter to the intake manifold. And some hardware.
Thanks for the advice. The EPA has dried out our diesel, so adding about 8 oz of transmission oil to 5 gallons of fuel is a good idea.

That hose is available at FNH or Walts tractor parts.
The URL below is the entire parts list for the Dexta & Super Dexta. File # 2, page 10, part # 95718233. Saw it on eBay for $38.98 free shipping.

Thank you. There is nothing like an old tractor.
