Hello I am working on a allis chalmers wc, and I am to the point where I am trying to start the tractor. I believe I have the mag timed right on the engine. I went thru the steps i found with TDC and then rotate back to the fire mark. I put a new zenith carb on it and have good gas going to the carb. I crank the tractor over and it will try to start and then keep cranking, then gas will seep out of the bottom of the carb. And then every one in a while it will backfire maybe once and sound like a gun going off. But then try to fire.
Des anyone have any specific suggestions I can do to try and get the tractor going, thanks for any help!

Sounds like you are 180 off maybe. Be calm, start over take nothing you have done for granted.

Did you remove plug #1 and hand crank until you felt air coming out of the plug hole? Then with a wire, hand crank until the piston is at the top. Then install the mag. LOL Bob

I second the 180 degrees off. I had the same problem when I first tried starting my WC. Re did the timing from scratch again and it fired right up.
