I've got a 4240 with 18.4-38 Goodyear Dyna Torque radials. The recommended pressure rating is 12 psi if I remember right. I am running them with 18 psi and they still look too squatty (without a load) to me. What is a safe pressure to run them with out damage? I worry as they get older they may crack from the squattiness. Thanks.

Lower radial tire pressure gives the tire a larger foot print which means better traction and ride. 12-18 psi is fine. Even lower pressures are fine. Rear tractor loads on 3 pt have a bearing on tire pressures.

Why try to 2nd guess the engineers that designed the tires ? They spent thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars designing and testing those tires. How does somebody stand there in the tractor shed figure that they can do better?

Michelin 18.4-42s call for 24 PSI but even under a Steiger they are way too hard at that pressure, even with 500 gallons (at 11 pounds per gallon) hanging on the front of it.
