to use the fat six volt batt. cable with a 12 volt system ?

I used a 0 or 00 on my 12 volt. It turns it over with no problem.

It is good, if anything. I have never heard of a battery cable with too little resistance.

Generally speaking, the heavier guage cable you can fit , all the better. Less resistance in your starter cables is always a good thing.

A six cable with a 12v is good. A 12 cable with a 6v is bad. 12v draws half the current a 6v does.
