Can any one give me the correct way to prime the fuel system on my Ford 555D, plus the correct way to fill the filters. I ran it out of fuel. Thanks in advance !!

Change the filters. Fill the tank, FULL. Open the bleeder on the filter and let it run until you get steady fuel with no bubbles. Close the bleeder. Open the small bleeder on the side of the pump body and crank the engine with the shutoff pulled out until it shoots fuel out 2-3 feet. Close the bleeder. Push the shutoff in. Open all three injector lines AT THE INJECTORS. Set throttle to full delivery. Crank in 30 sec bursts until you get good shots of fuel at 2 injectors. Close the lines and start her up. If it still doesn't want to run, feed it some ether in increasing size doses until it run on ether. Eventually it will bleed itself. Just DO NOT continue with the ether once it's firing on it's own fuel.
Most critical thing here is to change the filters and FILL the fuel tank. That way you know if you have good flow into the filter head. If you don't, trace back and find out why not.

Thanks Rod, now I have the basics but this is a 4 cyl and there is no manual fuel shut off. What would change due to it being operated with just the key switch and how can I indentify the bleeder on the CAV pump ?. P.S. The filter housing also has a manual pump mounted to the filter housing. I should have noted that before, what will change ?? Again THANKS for taking the time to help me.

This is the problem with generic advice on here. Every machine is a little different, and unless someone has EXACTLY that same machine, it's generic advice. That's why you so often read the advice-"acquire a manual"!

Some machines bleed easily, and will run a little air through, some are real buggers and you need to bleed and bleed and bleed.

I don't recall my 655A with in line inj. pump being too bad.

As Rod says, more fuel- gravity helps. It's a matter of logically removing air from the system one step at a time, starting at the supply end. But this is just more generic advice!

I assumed you had a Ford 555D TLB... so what do you actually have? Those machine had a 3 cylinder Ford engine... and I don't know how you'd shoehorn anything else in there.

Generally speaking I'd bleed the top of the filter housing... if it has a rotary pump there may or may not be a bleeder depending on it's vintage. It's not really a big deal if you don't bleed the pump body. It will fill eventually. if it's got a hand primer, work that until you get sick of it, then get the can of blow out and pour that to her while you crank. Feed it enough to run on the can until it bleeds itself.

I believe it was the D where they went to the four cyl.

You may be right. I don't know. I thought all 555's were 3 holers.

The 555's and 655's, up to the C's, were both essentially the same machine with an extra cylinder. If you look at the loader frame beside the engine you will see extra holes for moving everything in front of the motor forward to make room for it.
