The 7800 has come in the shop for various repairs. I would like to replace the fenders as they have rusted through and look extremely ratty. This is a high houred tractor.(19,000 hrs) it still gets plenty of use and I would like to spiff it up a bit. I priced the fenders through the dealer $428 per side. Is there any other options out there?

are you any good at mig welding, place thin gauge steel sheeting under it, a little bondo and some paint. if and only if for equipment used in the field. If it is a customers ask if they wanted repaired or replaced |

That price isn"t too bad. Were it me I would put the money (and more) into new rear tires.
Flat conveyor belting cut to look like a mudflap triangle bolted with small pan head SS machine screws around the edges would work. Follow the contours and it will be just fine. round the edges so it looks like it was made not slapped on. Jim |

Any of these tractors at the salvage yard
have been burned. Will they be OK if they
are painted or will they be warped from
the heat? |

i think it would be ok but i would guess it depends on how hot the fire was and how thick the metal is. |

I don't think that price sounds all that bad. I have repaired some for customers in my metal fab shop. Don't take long to get $250 in it and then it still needs to be painted. I assume the new ones come painted. |

Remove the fenders, sand blast both sides. paint on a coat of epoxy resin, lay out a roll of boat fiberglass. Paint on more resin. lay on more matting, and resin. till you have at least 2 layers of mat on each side of the original metal. Sand and paint, and re install fenders. Boat glass will flex and not crack. I done the body (floor pan) on my 72 jeep commando, this way back in 98, and It is still good |
