I'm working on the fuel system of my 1956 Super 88 diesel...anyone able to tell me what the fittings used are? The hard tube is flared at the end but each line also has a rubber washer the nut squeezes down. It doesn't seem like it would be just a basic flare fitting and also different than a brass compression fitting. Does AGCO sell individual parts to make new lines? I'm updating/changing the fuel filter and need to make some new lines.

Last I checked, I think a lot of the parts used were still available from AGCO, but if you are doing some changing or updating they probably won't.

I have always assumed that the only purpose for what I call the swaged end, is to hold the rubber bushing from coming off the end of the line, or I guess better description would be to hold the line from coming out of the rubber. I have used new line, and just put a SMALL single flare on end and it worked fine, but use new rubbers. Like someone else said ,you can get the rubbers from your local diesel repair shop. All that said I really don"t like this type of connection as even when you bottom the nut right out it still doesn"t tighten up solid. I have also assumed that this is to allow for vibration, so as to not fatigue steel lines over time?? I have converted a few to pipe to JIC adaptors and just flared new tubing with standard 37 degree flare so far have not had any issues with that either.( most of your filter housings are NPT, along with thread in pump etc.)

on those kind of lines all you have to do is replace the rubber spacer unless the line is damaged. I get the little rubber spacers from my local case IH Dealer they have them in all the possible sizes, they are not the cheapest little parts in the world but new ones almost always seal up when the old compressed and hardened ones fail to seal. they were used on case tractors and some IH or I can get you part numbers if needed
