Is this a model "B" disk?
Do they have wood bearings? Going to dig into this, and just wondered if anyone else has one, and wondered about the bearings?

Dan

Case made a model S and SA disc. The model S had the old style bearings and the SA had anti-friction or sealed bearings and was all Flambeau in color. I would guess it is a model S.

Are the old style bearings wood? My question then is, can you find them, or make them? Thanks for replying Steve.
This disc is green with Flambeau, so its from the 40-early 50s

Yep its an early S or SA series disk. The SA series had roller bearings. The S series had pressure lubricated steelite bearings. I don't believe that the S series bearings are available anymore.

Makes sense Eli, but somewhere out there someone has a plan, regarding the bearings. Thanks for posting.

Hi, Dan. You have it now..it is an early "S" disk with "steelite" bearings...no wood! Just add grease and you are good to go. When new, you could disk 5 or 6 hours between greasing but as they wore, a person needed to grease more often. Judging from the appearance of that one, it might not have had a lot of use and abuse. I would give it a good greasing and put it to work....have fun. The SA was a big improvement.

Nice to see you Bradley,so I think I will get the bearings to take grease and see if that will put her back in the field.
